Windows XP

  • Restart the computer and start tapping the F8 keys immediately. This will lead you to the advanced boot menu screen, which is a black and white screen with various options. This should be done before the operating system starts loading. From the list, highlight the option that says Safe Mode and then hit Enter. After this, Windows will load and proceed to the safe mode.
  • Click on the Start menu and click on the Control Panel, after which you have to select System Protection. Let Windows populate all the disk drives present.
